Do you treat your maids/servants as inferiors & don't let them to enter into temples of your house? Many do!
But why? Just because they belong to lower caste. Casteism exist in India from many decades, although it's firm has changed. Earlier countrymen were divided into four varnas. Brahmins were considered as uppermost class & highly intellectual persons, vaishayas were known to be skilled traders whereas Kshatriyas were warriors & protect all people. Shudras were treated as servants & the lowermost class. This description is acknowledged in the book 'Manusmriti'.
Later on, this acquired a new meaning on the basis of birth in a particular family, one will be known as Brahmins, Kshatriyas or Shudra accordingly.
Children born in a particular family couldn't change their fate & stigma to be born in a lower family had to be borne by them for their life
What a tradition we are following where people aren't known by the deeds done by them!
In present era, casteism had acquired it's new form. Today reservation in jobs & fixation of quota in various fields for SC/ST/OBC is prevalent. In 2016, there were riots in society by Jats demanding reservation.
What a society we are living in where privileged & upper families are also demanding reservation. It's a big satire on development of society. Until reservation is tackled, the distinction between caste can't be evaded.
What we require is the total change in our mindset. Caste is not a gateway of one's success. We all humans are creations of one God & we all are similar. What makes us unique us our capabilities, not the caste in which we're born. Mocking a person on basis of caste is morally not upright. Winning of elections by politicians by influencing people on basis is equally wrong. Once due to this caste, we have seen the separation of India & Pakistan & if it continues that time is not far when every region of our nation will be segregated!
Let's end the shackles of this devil & stop it!!
