Albert Einstein first predicted black holes in 1916 with the general theory of relativity. Blackhole is one of the most fascinating objects detected in outer space. After several efforts made by different scientists to know more about the structure and characteristics of a black hole. The first image of the black hole has been captured. Isn't the concept exciting? Advancement in technology has reached to such a level that capturing the images of such concepts can be thought of and imaged.

Capturing the image of the black hole is not one day task but it involved a high range of telescope. The image is the cumulative combination of all. The supermassive black hole now immortalized by a far-flung network of radio telescopes is 50 million lightyears away in a galaxy known as M87.One of the most massive galaxies in the local universe it has an active supermassive black hole at its core which forms the primary component of an active galactic nucleus. The black hole was imaged by event horizon telescope. The event horizon is one such event which played an important role in capturing the image. The most common types of black holes are the stellar-mass and supermassive black holes.Black holes of stellar mass are expected to form when very massive stars collapse at the end of their life cycle. After a black hole has formed, it can continue to grow by absorbing mass from its surroundings. By absorbing other stars and merging with other black holes, supermassive blackholeof millions ofsolar masses may form. There is general consensus that supermassive black holes exist in the centers of mostgalaxies

Features of the black hole:

  • The gravitational field is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape.

  • Black holes do not emit radiation on their own.
