Jealousy is the absence of contentment of one's own possessions and at times being attracted to what others have. When a person is not grateful for what one already has, it leads to jealousy. Not everyone that has it might be because they want it, sometimes we experience it unwillingly. And it is a very strong emotion that can even drive a person to take actions which might lead to unwanted consequences. Jealousy leads to hatred for the person you're jealous of and an urge to do anything to get what they have which lead to actions that we might end up regretting. Therefore it becomes a need to understand the cause of it and deal with it in a healthy manner. One shouldn't try to avoid it but rather look for solutions to deal with it in a positive way. A few things can help you get rid of it:

1. Try to understand its origin

To understand the solution of any problem, one needs to understand the root cause of it. And then we must try to deal with it from the beginning stages. We cannot get rid of any such problem all at once. It needs time and patience to get through it.

2. Spend some more time with yourself

Often jealousy makes a person think less of themselves. When you spend time with yourself, you get to know yourself a little better, you start to appreciate your own company and to be contented with all that you have. And when you can accept the fact that you're way better than anyone else, it helps you get free from such feelings.

3. Do some good acts with the person you're jealous of

Often people distance themselves from the person they're jealous of. And all it does is make things more bitter between the two. When you start doing some good deeds with them, they'll try to return the favour and hence it can help build a positive connection between the two of you. And it can slowly help you overcome the feeling of jealousy for them.

4. Be thankful for the things you have

We must always thank God for all the blessings that we have in our life rather than complaining about what we don't have. Stronger your connection with God, lesser will you be worried about the worldly things. And when we start thanking God, we realise how much we have to thank Him for. And it will also help us realise how blessed we already are.

5. Meet people who are in a worse condition than you

Meeting such people will help you remain thankful. It will help you realise the worth of things that you already have in life. And it will also give you a sense of encouragement to help people out there and will eventually free your mind from any negative thoughts.
