Possible Replacements For Gabbar

After Shikhar Dhawan got ruled out from ICC cricket world cup for more than 3 weeks due to thumb injury ,speculations are high about his replacement. No doubt, KL Rahul will open against New Zealand in next match. He used to bat at 4 previously. However, he is a proper opener batsman. He should replace Shikhar in batting position but then number four will be again a matter of concern for team India. Vijay Shankar might grab this position if he gets chance to play. But, other possible replacement for number four in the squad are-

1)Rishabh Pant

Pant's performance was phenomenal in IPL 2019. Many former players across the world advocated Rishabh Pant for Indian squad in the world cup but at the last moment Dinesh karthik was chosen over him. He could be picked as a replacement to Shikhar Dhawan. He is the top contender among others. He can bat at number four.He is a match winner like Yuvraj Singh. He can score quickly if situation demands. He has got tremendous hitting abilities.

2)Shreyash Iyer

Shreyash Iyer is again a top class batsman when it comes to bat in top middle order. He has performed throught the IPL season for Delhi Capitals. He is a calm batsman. He has wide range of shorts. He has abilities to rotate strikes which is very essential for a number four batsman. He can also play quick innings. He hits quite well. He is a complete package at number four.

3)Ajinkay Rahane

Rahane is also a topmost contender among others. He is playing county cricket in England currently. He has experience for playing in the middle order as well. He can open also. He has a decent ODI records in foreign. He could be a favourite replacement to Shikhar if selectors choose experience over passion.

4)Ambati Rayadu

Ambati name was much debated before squad announcement for world cup but Vijay Shankar was chosen over him as selectors and team management wanted a batsman who could bowl also. He has good ODI average among others who are in the race. India gave Ambati many chances at number four to prepare him for the world cup but his recent form was not good. But, now when Shikhar is injured and number four is empty he can be our next number four for world cup.
