Over the past decade, few names of immense potential and capability have managed to change the landscape of Bihar. From social workers to entrepreneurs to actors to singers to simply being responsible citizens, a new group of qualified individuals working in the direction of change have slowly emerged.

Here's a list of the young and the courageous youngsters of Bihar, willing to make an impact:
1. Shashank Kumar

Leaving a promising corporate career, Shashank Kumar, moved to rural areas of Bihar to help set up Farms n Farmers, an NGO to educate and help farmers with cropping patterns. He also built a mobile based technology named DeHaat, which helps in providing various services to local farmers in a sustainable way. He has been bestowed with Ashoka Fellowship and Social Entrepreneurship award (Bihar) for the year 2012 for his contributions to the field of agriculture.

2. Jaya Devi

Known as the Green Lady of Munger, Jaya Devi grew up in an environment of women oppression, poverty and threat from Naxalites. Her situation instead motivated her to form self-help groups to help women from marginalized section become financially independent. Around 2000 women who have now learnt to sign their name are thankful to her. From water conservation to fighting against sexual harassment, Jaya Devi has worked immensely towards betterment of living conditions of people of Bihar.

3. Saurav Anuraj

It's because of him that photographers in Bihar now receive the respect due to them. Born in Hilsa, Nalanda, Saurav, left engineering to become a full-time photographer. Because of sheer talent and an eye for photography, Saurav has managed to change the cultural landscape of this profession. He was recently awarded The Time Of India ‘Men of the year 2019’ award. Currently he owns Meow Studio and is working on a photo-book ‘Amarya’ which aims to raise awareness towards depression and suicide.

4. Himani Mishra

Feeling that Bihar lacked a good digital marketing company, Himani founded Brand Radiator. This company educates the people about the power of social networking media, value of digital marketing and helps in the generation of employment. She aims to curb migration to bigger cities through her project.

5. Hansa Sinha

If you wish to credit someone for the successful organization of important events in the state such as Bihar Divas and Shiksha Divas, you must turn to Hansa Sinha and her team of Genesys Consulting. She is the woman!

6. Priya Mallick

Priya Mallick, now a household name in Patna, landed on a career-turning point when she was selected as a singer in Om Shanti Om, India’s first reality show for spiritual songs. Securing the position of the first runner up, Priya introduced to the country some of her original spiritual songs composition and now works diligently to promote folk music of Bihar.

7. Yashi Malviya and Sukriti Roy

These two young girls of Bihar must be congratulated for bringing to highlight the unknown yet significant places of Bihar. Through their start-up Bihar Bytes they aim to boost tourism in Bihar by portraying the rich culture and heritage of Bihar and making it more accessible. Amazing!

It’s time to recognize the potential locked in youth and open it in a direction that can help bring spring even in the most barren of lands. To those reading this, remember an idea can change your life and of others.
