Hold on.... Intrigued? Curious? If these are the thoughts that came into your mind about the heading then my dear mate, you've come at the perfect wryt-up.
The inspiration for this wryt-up hit me ( like a wrecccking balll... Miley Cyrus? No? Alrighty.) when I was having a conversation with my best friend and on the local train and well the saree-clad aunty( stereotypical much?) was quite interested in our conversation too. Well it went somewhat like this:-
Me:- Dudeeee! Can you believe the new erotica from Maya Banks? It's AMAZING!
Friend:- Holy hell! I know right! The storyline just couldn't be any better.. and the sex is soo hot.(dramatically fanning herself.)
Me:- (snickering) It reminded me of the sex education session from the school days.
Aunty:- Shhhh... Girls keep your voices low.

And this is where the dilemma lies my mates. What is it about this three-letter word that makes it so uncomfortable for the people around us to listen or talk about. After all it's not a national secret that's how we came into this world. But people still adhere to the fact that what's spoken behind closed doors (Ahem.. more like done?) should remain behind closed doors.
But it is because of this reluctancy to discuss the topic that the world is prevalent with so many unsolved problems.
HIV, AIDS, Syphillis or Gonorrhoea .. these are STD's we've all quite commonly heard of but have we discussed this with our younger ones or ever brought up the topic publicly?
The aunty I met in the train isn't the only one who suffers from such a thought process, there are hundreds around you who would even dare not to discuss the topic. But isn't Ignorance an invitation to Calamity?
STD's or STI's rank among the five most important causes of healthy productive life loss in developing countries. Countries like Germany and France lead the way in the most number of people suffering from any sort of sexual disease.
People usually shy away from a visit to the gynaecologist, but is it worth the consequence?
India itself has come a long way in the path ofincreasingawareness related to Sex related topics... But we still have a long way to go.
There are still millions of lives lost due to unawareness of young adults to any kind of STD's and we need to change this situation as soon as possible.
Sex as a word has been made a taboo to be talked about, but sexual diseases, here even the people suffering from it are forced to be a social-taboo.
And as a conclusion to this wryt-up my mates..
Be Aware, Be Safe, It's never too late.
Wake up, Recognise, Be wise.
