Frauds through Credit and Debit cards are quite common nowadays. This has given rise to many questions in the mind of plastic money users. Let's have a look:-

Ways to cheat through cards

1) Spoofing:- The swindlers steal information like Mobile Number, Card Number, CVV and expiry date of the card user. And then call and claim themselves to be the bank manager to get the OTP. After that, they steal money from their account.

2) Scheming:- During making payments at the shop, the card is secretly swiped without the knowledge of card user through a device called 'schemer'. This device steals all the information.

3) Cloning:- In this case, duplication of the card is made. To clone the card, firstly swindlers steal the card's information through Scheming then these information are transferred to the different card. Thus duplicate card is created in this way and money is taken by this.

Precautions during Online Payment

  • For additional security, you can register to get otp via e-mail as well. For this, you have to inform the bank.

  • Before making any online payment, make sure that the URL of the website should have a padlock (sign of green lock) and https://. Websites having only "http://" are not safe.

Special attention in ATM

  • While withdrawing money through ATM, make sure that no one is around you and don't allow anyone to come inside.

  • In ATM usually, where the card is swiped, the Swindlers place Schemer there to steal card's information. So before swiping ATM card there, slightly pull off that area. If schemer would be there, it would come out and inform police regarding that.

  • Schemer can also be placed in the keypad of ATM. So press one of its sides if it would be there then another side would go upward.

Be Smart

  • Install the app of the bank of whose card you are using and also link your card through it. Always install it either from the App store or from the official website of Bank.a

  • To prevent hacking, install antivirus in your PC and mobile phone.

  • Never ever share any card's information or OTP to anyone if he/she is claiming himself/herself to be the bank manager.
