Hello guys!
Here I'm back with an another topic related to hacking. i.e,CRYPTOJACKING(One of the fastest growing malware threats).

Have you heard of the wordCRYPTOCURRENCY?
One of the common and famous example of Cryptocurrency is BITCOIN.
Bitcoinfirst released as open-source software in year 2009, is generally considered the first decentralized Cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency is a digital asset, designed to work as a medium of exchange that uses a strong encryption to secure financial transactions. In other words it can be says as Electronic cash. For your information- 1 bitcoin= ₹2,62,622.(approx.)

Now, comes to the main point.
What is Cryptojacking?
Cryptojacking simply means someone has secretly hijacked your personal device to mine Cryptocurrencies that can be mined with computing power. It is basically stealing the computing power of devices without seeking permission from the owner of the system or device.

This type of hijacking happens only when you are browsing the internet and have landed on a website that is malicious to Cryptojacking. The funny thing is, it doesn't require user to click on any link or download anything. Instead of this, it requires user to just browse the website.

Now you are thinking how's it possible?
Let me define, It works by implementing a JavaScript code in that website which later use to access the processing power ofthe visiting device to mine the CPU minable Cryptocurrencies.

You can understand the process or working of Cryptojacking in above image.

There are two ways in which Cryptojacking is happening now days;

  • Using websites with good traffic.

  • Online businesses using Cryptojacking tools.

Malicious hackers are hacking websiteswith heavy traffic to put their mining scripts on those websites. Large online businesses are also using mining scripts to generate alternative monetization techniques for their business.

Countering the Cryptojacking:
It's not clear yet Cryptojacking is illegal or not, but it is surely not ethical as noob internet users are being robbed of their resources without any incentive.

If you are experiencing your system slowdown after browsing for a while! You might be Cryptojacked. Users who are Cryptojacked will usually see their devices being drained out of battery quiet fast or getting heated or sudden increase in CPU utilization.

So you can see above points or the CPU utilization of your device to check if you are being Cryptojacked.

There are various tools, techniques, and plugins are available to avoid and prevent yourself from Cryptojacking, Such as;

  • Disallow your browser to run the JavaScript code for the websites.

  • You can use mining script blockers directly by installing an Chrome extensions like 'No Coin' or 'MinerBlock'.

  • You can use specific script blockers like 'uBock' or 'NoScript'.

That's all from my side in this Post. You are welcome to comment for the queries you have.

Thank you!
