I am a guitarist myself and have started from the scratch. Currently I have learned Guitar via the Rockschool Syllabus till Grade 4 (there are 8 grades in total).

I think that I am capable to give some advice to budding/aspiring guitarists or people who want to start learning the instrument.

My first and foremost advice is, please go for learning/studying about guitar only if you are serious. If you just want to buy a guitar, because it looks cool, then please don't do so. Even if you do so, you can inculcate an interest in Guitar and eventually learn to play it.

Learning and playing Guitar is a serious affair and is not always fun and games. If you want to learn to play guitar then one has to devote ample time for practice.

Now, we come to the question - Which guitar should I buy if I am just a beginner ?

Since we are talking about beginnig of the journey, one should always go for an Acoustic Guitar.

An Acoustic Guitar is a wooden variant of the guitar which is easier to handle and learn as compared to an electric Guitar. In Acoustic Guitar, there are two variants, namely Steel string guitar and Classical guitar.

The steel string guitar produces a metallic sound whereas the strings of a Classical guitar are a lot thicker and sound more melodious. One can choose either of these according to the sound they prefer.

One can also choose the size of the guitar they want. A guitar comes in half-size and full-size. If you are not comfortable in holding a full-size guitar, a half-sized one may be bought.

Overall, an Acoustic Guitar should be the foremost choice of any beginner as it is portable unlike electric guitars, which also require the use of an amplifier.

So, if one is looking to get into guitar-learning, an Acoustic guitar is the best choice for him/her.
