We often find that some students do not perform according to their potential in class tests or examinations. They work hard but still do not get the expected results. What could be the reason for their poor performance?

The reason is that, they do not organise their studies properly. To organise studies, one has to make a timetable and follow it by hook or crook. Making timetable requires meticulous planning. Your timetable should include things like meals, sleeping, playing etc. Put down the total number of hours you spend on each activity per week. After this, scrutinize the number of hours you have alloted to each activity by questioning yourself
1) will this allotment of time for each activity help me achieve my goals?
2) is my activity taking more time within the framework of total time available?
3) do i waste time? if so how?
having asked these questions, allot time to each activity once again. it will possibly be different from what you wrote on the previous one. Now on the basis of this make a daily timetable which will include all the subjects. Make sure the time alloted for each subject does not exceed sixty minutes. The reason being, our power of concentration dwindles after an hour. After the end of each subject take a break of five to ten minutes. Playing with your pet or going for a stroll will be great ways to unleash yourself.

Revision plays a pivotal role in remembering . While sitting down to study , do revise the subjects read by you on the previous day.

Your efforts will not be fruitful if you don't attend your classes regularly. Experiments have confirmed that there is a definite relation between the marks obtained and the class attendance. It is important that you are not just physically present in the class but mentally too.

One important step one can take in mastering the subject is forming a group of two or three students to discuss the topics and clear the doubts if any. Decades of research by educational psychologists has shown that when students work together in collaborative teams, they learn material better than when they sit alone at their desks. Do not let the group deviate from the purpose it has been set for, make your dicussions goal oriented .

while studying make sure you focus your concetration only on the subject , do not mix studies with activities like listening to songs, watching television as this will divide your concentration.
another great habit that one should inculcate in their lives is getting up early , preferably, 5 'o clock in the morning. The benefits of getting up early are umpteen . When you wake up early, logically there is more time in your hands and hence you can plan your things and focus more.

Now that you know what to do in order to score well, implementation is what is left. Sometimes, you may not be able to follow the timetable drawn , do not lose heart, if you have persistence, you will be able to follow it steadfastly.
