Physical activity

Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure. Physical activity encompasses all activities, at any intensity, performed during any time of day or night. It includes exercise and incidental activity integrated into daily activity. This integrated activity may not be planned, structured, repetitive or purposeful for the improvement of fitness, and may include activities such as walking to the local shop, cleaning, working, active transport etc. Lack of physical activity is associated with a range of negative health outcomes whereas increased physical activity can improve physical as well as mental health.

Before the industrial revolution,fitness was defined as the capacity to carry out the day’s activities without undue fatigue. However, with automation and changes in lifestyles physical fitness is now considered a measure of the body's ability to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities, to be healthy, to resist hypokinetic diseases, and to meet emergency situations.

Yoga

The ultimate goal of Yoga ismoksha(liberation), although the exact form this takes depends on the philosophical or theological system with which it is conjugated.
According to Jacobsen, Yoga has five principal traditional meanings.

  2. techniques of controlling the body and the mind;

  3. a name of a school or system of philosophy (darśana);

  4. with prefixes such as "hatha-, mantra-, and laya-, traditions specialising in particular techniques of yoga;

  5. the goal of Yoga practice.

a meditative means of discovering dysfunctional perception and cognition, as well as overcoming it for release from suffering, inner peace and salvation; illustration of this principle is found in Hindu texts such as theBhagavad GitaandYogasutras, in a number of Buddhist Mahāyāna works, as well as Jain texts
