Swaraj To Ramrajya : India's Religious Fanaticism

Religion has always played an active role in Indian politics. Starting from the pre independent period of Hindu - Muslim riots to recent activities of 'Hindutva' nationalists, religion is the spark of every uprising of fanaticism.

So here is our question, is the religion in India becoming a concern? Is it giving rise to a fanatic world?

Here is why we must be concerned about it.

Rise of Hindu extremists

Ever since the grand rise of the saffron government we are witnessing the rise in religious fanaticism in India. Keeping apart the tragic riots of Gujarat 2002, we are noticing that again with the introduction of the saffron government in India, a religious division has been their political tool.

Hindu nationalism has corned the minority community by force. Talking about this we consider the case of Bajrang Dal, Hindu kranti Dal closing meat shops in places like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab. According to them it is hurting Hindu sentiment. So we are judged by our choice of food and moreover people who earned their livelihood by selling meat are doing a sin. Why? Because they are not going as par so called religious standards? What is this Medieval India?

According to a USCIRF report the 'cow protection' lynch mob or 'Gorakshaks' have killed at least 20 people in 2017.

Hindu extremists have gone to such a level that they are even judging historical dramas without even touching a history book ever. Coming to the Padmavati controversy in 2017.

A ring wing rajput group called Karni Sena vandalised cinemas, created chaos in places of Rajasthan, Gujarat and parts of Haryana and even set price on Deepika Padua one's head! Reason? As there was a rumor of a dream sequence of an intimate scene between the Muslim ruler Allaudin Khilji and Hindu queen Padmavati.

People who have perhaps never touched a history book came out shouting slogans of authenticity.

So there is our concern that where are we heading? India in 21st century is progressing. But is the religion fanaticism it's main enemy? Will it lead India towards a downfall?
