Happiness, it is not measurable, profitable, not tradable. Yet, above all else in the world, it is what people seek. They want to have happiness, and want to know they have a lot of it. But happiness, like air or water, is a hard thing to grasp in one’s hand. It is intangible. So how does one know if they have it? Is it just a feeling?Just as a confident man doesn’t wonder if he’s confident, a happy man does not wonder if he’s happy, he simply is. Finding happiness is not achieved in itself, but rather it is the side effect of a particular set of ongoing life experiences.

Most of us probably don’t believe we need a formal definition of happiness but to understand the causes and effects of happiness we need to define it. According to many psychologists happiness is explained as “the experience of joy, contentment, or positive well-being, combined with a sense that one’s life is good, meaningful, and worthwhile.” But also happiness is a combination of how satisfied you are with your life and how good you feel on a day-to-day basis. Happiness is not the same as pleasure. When most people seek happiness, they are actually seeking pleasure such as good food, more sex, more time for TV and movies, a new car, parties with friends, travel, lovely meal, becoming more popular, and so on. Though pleasure may be great in one's life but it's not the same as happiness that he/she wanted to have. Pleasure is correlated with happiness but does not cause it. Research shows that people who focus their energy on materialistic and superficial pleasures end up more anxious, more emotionally unstable and less happy in the long-run. Pleasure is the most superficial form of life satisfaction and therefore the easiest.

For a significant part of the people, happiness is a material asset, a secure life but for spiritually rich people a possibility of spiritual growth is of great value. Despite the meaning that person includes, happiness doesn't occur by incident, it always has to be made, it has to be discovered, created and produced, build from the ground up. And this could only be achieved by deciding to be happy. People must have a belief to be happy no matter how difficult events await them ahead. Life with all those countless suffering, always get in the way of people enjoying their own lives. This can indeed misshapen a person's happiness. In other word, you have the ability to control how you feel and with consistent practice you can form lifelong habits for a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Finally, happiness is not something that is obtained accidentally. Instead this is a result of continuous and challenging work but it can be accomplished and not just short life happiness, but also true, long lasting happiness. Again, happiness is not something that just comes to a person. In fact the majority of people have to work vigorously for an extended period of time in order to be happy. But this is something that every individual can create on their own. Happiness can befall into anyone's hands because everyone deserves to be happy.
