Parts Of Guitar

The guitar is mainly divided into three parts such as head neck and body.

1) Head

This is the end part of Guitar. It starts from the nut part. It has six tuning pegs which are very important for tuning strings of Guitar. Tuning pegs hold the strings at the head of Guitar. Nut part is a small strip which can be made up of brass, plastic, and steel.

2) Neck

The neck part is consist of the fingerboard. It is mid and long part of the guitar

Fingerboard

The fingerboard is also called a fretboard. It is consist of strings and frets. It is present across the full length of the neck.

The Strings of guitar

There are six strings in guitar named according to as E B G D A E from lower side to upper side. Uppermost is called as High E and lowermost most is called as low E.

Strings are numbered for easy learning. They are numbered as follows -

The low E string is numbered as 1st and the high E string is numbered as 6th.

Low E - 1st

B -the2nd

G- 3rd

D - 4th

A- 5th

High E - 6th.

Frets

Their some vertical lines placed on fingerboard between two vertical lines there is one fret. There are 22 frets on the fingerboard of the guitar. 22 frets contain 138 notes. Combining two or more frets forms the chords of the guitar.

Frets are numbered from zero to 22. The first fret is zero frets also called as open fret. This fret is count on nut part. 22th fret is present near the bridge:

3) Body

This is the biggest part of the guitar. The main function of the body is to amplify the sound.

It consists of the following parts.

i) Soundhole

It is the hole situated at the middle of a body of Guitar.

ii) Bridge

It is the device which is placed on the body used to hold the strings.
