I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I say that we women are obsessed with possessing jewellery. I know many girls who love hoarding earrings and junk jewellery and obviously I am one of them as well. Accessorising adds that extra oomph to your outfit, and when the accessory is jewellery, you ought to collect some spectacular ones! For all those hoarders, to whom “junk” is worth more than anything, here is a list of 5 junk jewellery destinations in Kolkata.

1) Hatibagan

This place in North Kolkata is a shopper’s paradise. Its cheap, its beautiful and has a whole lot of variety. Be sure to get your bargaining skills ready because you are going to need it. After all that roaming around and shopping, you can always treat yourself to some Arsalan biriyani, just nearby.

2) New Market

This is a no brainer. One of the most famous shopping landmark areas in Kolkata is the New Market. It is also one of the oldest areas of street shopping in Kolkata. There are a large number of shops and lots of street hawkers where one can buy cheap and affordable stuff from. Choose from a range of bright junk jewellery to various designs of artificial jewellery.

3) Gariahat

Even though it is jam-packed with people most of the times, this is one place to go shopping for all your junk jewellery needs and other stuff too, as you get a variety of options to choose from. This place has amazing home decor items as well. The low price factor and easy accessibility just makes it even better. You also get to munch on a wide variety of street food while you shop, so it’s a win-win!

4) Dakshinapan

It is probably a bit more pricier and definitely harder to pull off a smooth bargain. But this place will provide you unique designs that you wouldn’t find someone else wearing. Nose-pins, rings and several types of earrings, you will find it all. They have wonderful silver jewellery stores as well, if you are up for a higher budget.

5) City Centre

Both of them. They probably have limited stock but they have some great pieces. The price is obviously steeper but you wouldn’t regret your buy. These will also last you a long time. Also, since it is City Centre, you can do lots of other things or just, shop!
