Main causes behind animal disppearance are natural phenomenons, such as climatic heating or chilling or variations in levels of sea. In modern times, more precisely, human activities are to be blamed.

Certain artificial measures such as farming land expands, killing, increase in all sorts of pollution, introduction of alien species, these all practised activities are collectively accountable for disappearance of many creatures.

West African Rhinoceros

This rhinoceros were found in several countries, that are towards south east Africa. Their meal included leafy plants and shoots. It was believed that their horns had medicinal properties ( though it was all hypothetical ), which lead to heavy poaching.

In 1930s preservation actions were taken to protect this species, but numbers continued to decline. It was 2006, in cameroon when we saw last creature of this species, and officially this creature was proclaimed as vanished in 2011.

Pyrenean Ibex

This Ibex is considered as relative of Ibex family or Iberian goat family and was found in Iberian Peninsula. In historic times, it was thought that they are approximately fifty thousand in number, but during the initial phases of 1900s its number had reduced to less than 100.

Absolute reason behind its extinction is still a myth, As per Scientists belief, it is not capable to fight with the other creatures for food as well as habitat and thus they were subjected to be extinct. Last case of watching a pyrenean ibex was recorded in late 2000.

Passenger Pigeon

These basically belong to the region of North America. During invasion of Europeans in North America, then number of these pigeons were counted to be approximately 3 to 5 billion pigeons, but after their settlement, we saw a decrease in count of these pigeons due to practice of mass husking.

In 19th century, when euoropeans commercialised its meat as a meal for the poor, hunters started hunting hunting them in a large scale. Last known Passenger Pigeon died in 1914.

Stellers Sea Cow

It was named after George Stellar, a naturalist who discovered this creature in 1741. As name suggests cow, so it is, it os herbivores. This mammal is domesticated in large parts, and most of the times they are seen eating brown algae.

Due to its unability to submerge its entire body in the sea, it is more exposed to be poached. It remained in existence only for 27 years i.e. by 1768.

Woolly Mammoth

It is an huge and vast mammal and it is very much similar to modern-days elephants. This creature may have weight of over 6 tons and it can gain height of 5 metres. Furs protects them by forming a covering layer throughout their body and even their tusk sometimes gain length of 5 metres.

Just because of killing animals illegally and change in climatic conditions, these woolly mammoths disappeared 10,000 years ago. Last of this creature is believed to be seen in Wrangel Island in the Arctic Ocean around 1700 BC.

Conclusion

Reason behind disapearance of any of the animal is poaching and change in climatic conditions. These reasons remind us that ultimately we are accountable for their vanishing and if we did not control this now, surely we are going to be reason of our extinction also.
