No, not bollywood-ish though.
A country populated with around 130 crore brown people offers a life that is simple and yet colourful. Like seriously, we don’t just dance around with Bollywood music being played in the background. It’s a lot more than that.
there are different cultures, religions, beliefs, accents and there is a whole other spectrum of food. “Spice-tacular” food all around. High on my pun game!Just bare with me for the next 350 words.
So,basically we wake up every day in a beautiful chaos of someone taking a sip of tea, holy chants from shrines, the spatulas hitting the tawa; and yet not being disturbed by any of them. It’s one of the many Indian traits to have.
Moving on.
Life in India has an ancient essence to it even though modern lifestyle exists. For example, we all know, it’s not hard to survive on toast and juice every morning but aloo ka paratha, idli, poha, upma are always more comfortable options.
Indian lives are centred around gourmet food more than the ones available in the supermarket. Even the achars(pickles) and pappads are made in most of the Indian homes.
From rice, daal to gulab jamuns and kulfis, dealing with crowded roads to soft scilence of street at night, eating with hands, k-k-k-kiran to raj-naam toh suna hi hoga, we experience it all.
And not to forget; Indians are basically die-hard fans of…
Amitabh Bachchan, soda, sunrise… Oh la la… It’s true la la la (this is what happens when you hear catchy songs while typing something).
So…. A “hainn” and masala soda a day keeps the non-desi vibes away.
By the way ‘masala soda a day’ is a reference taken from the Gokuldham vasis of the hit Indian sitcom “Tarak Mehta Ka Olta Chasma” which is a MAJOR part of Indian life.
Now that we have shifted quite a bit to the entertainment side, let’s get into Bollywood’s influence. A movie that has to have a presence in an Indian life is sholay. The young from heart listen to Kishore kumar and lata Mangeshkar and the ones who are young in general, love arijit singh’s voice at any given time irrespective of their mood.
And finally, I’ll end this by mentioning that, we live with festivals, different shades of brown, monsoon that’s a little late, winter and summer that’s a little too strong. And that’s a desi life for us.
Thank you for dropping by. Take care!
