Well, before I go scribbling about world cup which is quite evident from the title itself, I would like to dedicate few sentences for this year’s IPL, which was no less than a spectacular one and also the last time India lifted the world cup.
Let’s start with IPL 2019. Some of the highlights of this season, according to me were, smashing sixes by Russell, I mean honestly, he is one of the best players KKR has had in its history; and one more player who made his presence felt was Rabada from Delhi Capitals, those mindboggling catches and that dream Yorker in the super over that got Russel out made me spellbound, simply spectacular.
But besides these two players, according to me, few Indian players made their mark too. Starting from Hardik Pandya being able to raise the target in the death overs, Dhoni being even more consistent and leading the team to victory in almost all matches, Kohli and Rohit showed faith in their players in the most uncertain times. Shami, Chahal and Bhuvneshwar were brilliant with their pace and Shikhar showed us how not be dominant as a senior player and guide the young team in the best way possible. The list sure doesn’t end here, many Indian players showed how focused they are, no matter how young or old they’ve been on the field. Yes, this year’s IPL had many controversies too but weren’t interested in the negative world. In short, IPL 2019 was controversial, full of phenomenal matches, and lot of sixes and wickets as well. But one thing that made me proud was how well the Indian players performed! And so… more power to the Indian team for world cup this year!
Moving on to the last time we lifted the world cup, we still get Goosebumps when we think about it, don’t we? Those final words of the season by Ravi Shastri were so impactful that the words still echo in my mind. Dhoni finishing off in style as said by shastri sir. The team showed how we rise when we stand together prior to all the differences and experiences of the players. And most importantly, the team lifting that precious world cup after so many years. These memories are still running fresh in the Indian blood. And undoubtably, this year too, I want the same thrill to be felt!
A team, 11 players and what not to expect, right! The nation is ready to again sing “INDIA! INDIA!”
Best wishes to team INDIA.
