I am all for healthy living and self care. In our stressful lives, we usually can't take time for ourselves from our busy office schedules. Immediately after, we have housework to look at. So it is a bit far fetched to actually buy masks and go on spa facial treatments when there is so much of work left to take care of. Further, most of the face masks that we buy are usually pretty expensive, and there is the further trouble of matching each product with your skin type.

It is a nightmare.

However, there are a number of things in your kitchen which could achieve the same effects of rejuventation, hydration, brightening, toning and clearing for you.

I have included four of my go-to face masks within this article, which have amazing results;

  1. Coffee Brew

  2. Yellow Lion

  3. The Hulk

  4. Sweetie Treat

Coffee Brew

This is really easy. Take 2 teaspoons of coffee powder and mix them with water, and apply the paste onto your face. You can also switch up the water with any other hydrating base like rose water and aloe vera gel.

Apart from coffee being a great drink to keep you awake, it can also help in making your face really bright and chirpy, especially after you've pulled a long night working on a project or stayed up watching a movie. This mask takes about 10 minutes to work its magic and to make the mask, it takes about 20 seconds. It is simple, effective and extremely rejuvenating.

Yellow Lion

I called this because it kills all the harmful bacteria on the face and it is yellow in color. The mask is really simple and it borrows from the age old tradition of using herbs on your face. You can make this mask by applying turmeric and red sandal powder on your face, by mixing it with water or milk.

A very important perk of this mask is acne control. Due to antibacterial properties of turmeric and upon adding it with milk to create a paste, it would bring your break out under control and make your skin baby soft. Using red sandal, acts as a scrub which would remove all impurities from your skin and cleanse it completely.

The Hulk

This mask is called the hulk because almost all the ingredients we use in it are all green. All you need are neem leaves, a few cucumber peels and aloe vera gel. Just mix a small amount and apply it onto your face and neck.

This mask has three key ingredients; neem for its pollutant removal, cucumber for cooling and aloe vera for hydration. You need it on your face only for 10 minutes, although you could wear it for longer.

Sweetie Treat

This is called sweetie treat because it is the sweetest mask that your face would ever get. With only one ingredient, there is almost no prep time. Applying raw honey to your face really helps in brightening your skin.

Honey is known to have excellent bleaching and skin softening properties.

So those were the face masks that I usually get on my face for getting my skin in top condition. If you need a seal of approval, all of these are mom approved, and these are easily acquirable ingredients and they barely need much time to set. One recommendation would be to apply them a half hour before you take a bath, so that you can not only have a relaxing masking session, after which you can relax with a shower too.

Do you have any other DIY face masks that you use at home? If you do, please let me know in the comments below.

Until then, Happy Masking!
