Religion has always been a paramount portrait and an epitome of hope and strength, unprejudiced by the classes of society. If we take a sneak peek into the various incarnations of history, we will get to know what flabbergasting roles religion has played in the establishment of ethical and cultural values. It has been a subtle base upon which our nation has integrated its growth over the years gone by. It has been a bridge connecting various aspects of mankind.
Faith in god and dedication towards a particular religion gives a hungry sleeping stomach a ray of anticipation for happy mornings to dawn over their misfortunes. Religion and culture is among some of the impeccable things our country boasts about. Various temples, mosques, gurudwaras and other religious places situated on different exquisite environment provides mesmerising tourist destinations which paves way for economic growth, and the incessant income of international tourists enhances the G.D.P, as people from across the globe get intertwined in this.
Earlier, religion used to come amalgamated with serenity, tranquillity and most importantly humanity. But astonishingly no one would have ever imagined about the drastic change of understanding it will undergo with time. It was established for peace, for well-being and for prosperity, but the advent of time has changed its composition and the evils of society have isolated the element of humanity from it. It has evolved into a platform creating riots, crimes and massacres. The brains of people have been infected with the myth that their religion is under threat. This has given birth to a feeling of retaliation and the people being irrational and impractical blindfold themselves and start acting like a puppet manipulated by the strings of selfishness and benefits. It destroys friendships, ruins families and to top it all morality is turned into ashes.
The power of this myth is far beyond imagination, it has the noxious ability to change the destiny of mankind, this myth forces us to go on a war which has never begun, and whenever someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die. Religion these days has turned into a weapon used by the cruel politicians to garner votes during elections and leave the common mass in a state of despair. They disguise themselves in the colours of a particular religion and spread hatred to influence masses and make them ferocious towards each other. Various media houses also indulge in fabricating false stories for their channels to survive. This produces an idea of selective outrage among people.
While describing this curse which has already started tormenting the existence of mankind, we cannot overlook the role of social media which is an engine carrying this forward, fake news and useless stories spread like wildfire initiating the formation of communities which are always thirsty for each other’s blood, it creates a sense of brotherhood among the people of same religion and sows the seeds of hatred for others and that is the devastating point where humanity debilitates. The conditions today are so miserable that for almost every evil deed religion is blamed, if a Hindu boy rapes a Muslim girl or vice-versa the whole community is taken under radar and everybody starts extracting their own benefits, it is sad to accept but no one throws light upon the more important fact that a girl has been raped. Torture and violence often leads to fatalities.
As mentioned earlier the roots of this problem commences from our brain. We need to go deep inside of ourselves introspecting our capabilities of protecting our huge and gigantic branches of religion. Questions like - are we just in whatever act we do to protect our religion? and does our religion verily demands protection? need to be answered. The youth needs to be more practical and rational in analysing the scenarios and investigating the pros and cons before advancing towards an action, we need to be more transparent in what we see and what we listen, because to stop the rumours is a herculean task, rumours will continue to spread, but if we take the battle forward upon us and start questioning and objecting things than it’s quite obvious that peace will prevail and the dark clouds of hatred can be eradicated swiftly and our country can once again be soaked in mellifluous voice of prosperity. But if we don't then its repercussions can lead to destruction and death, and with the on-going pace, in the coming years humanity will cease to exist and society will be eclipsed by death and mourning.
Hence, it is upon us to make the choice.
