This time Cuttakias (local people) and people from various villages and cities come to the bank of Mahanadi river to celebrate Odisha’s Maritime Voyages that were started by their ancestors. The festivities stay for about 7 days during which you can visit the Bali Yatra Mela and enjoy Odishan handloom, Cuisines, various rides and many things to shop and see.
Orissa Maritime Museum is a place to behold. From ancient boats to modern day ships, this place has something to offer about each of them. There are life-size replicas of various traditional boats and also boasts of a beautiful aquarium room, full of marine life. From Gold Fish to Piranhas, you can watch these creatures having a good time.
Netaji Subhas Birthplace Museum is another must visit the place. You can see, his life journey in the museum. This museum houses many letters and documents from the Indian freedom movement and Azad Hind Fauj. Here you can see the Azad Hind Fauj’s Uniform and various Guns and swords at the display. The room in which Netaji was born and the one in which he used to live, has been kept intact. You can see the exact items of furniture and items from that era. It is a great place to learn about his life and about his journey.
If that is not enough you can visit Cuttack Chandi Temple. It is situated on a hillock and is known to be sacred and people believe that their wishes are fulfilled if they pray here.
Remains of the Barabati fort is also a great attraction here. It is located near the Barabati stadium which is again a great venue of international cricket matches.
