In the last part we learnt what actually the word "Culture" means. Continuing it further let's understand how culture is important for human life.

Culture is closely linked with life. It is not an add-on that we as human beings can use in our lives. It is not merely a touch of color. It is what makes us human beings. Without culture, there would be no human existence, though physically they would have existed but only for the namesake. Culture is a way of life that is made up of traditions, beliefs, rituals, from the most spiritual to the most materialistic.

"A very amazing thing is that human beings are creators of culture whereas at the same time, culture is what makes us good human beings." This shows that how humans and culture are interrelated and interdependent on each other.

We must value religious identity and be beware of current efforts to make progress in terms of 'interfaith dialogue', which is actually an 'intercultural dialogue'. As the world is becoming more and more global, it is important for us as an human to know not only our own culture but the culture of other places ane people as well in order to make no mistakes.

The three eternal and universal values of Truth, Beauty and Goodness are closely related with culture. It is this culture that brings us closer to truth using the mediums of religion and philosophy; it makes us Aesthetic beings and it is this same element that also makes us ethical beings by teaching us the values of love, peace and tolerance hence bringing us closer.

Have you ever wondered how we as hartans have made such an amazing progress in almost all aspects of life whether language, literature, science art or architecture.

This happened because we did not have to make a fresh beginning everytime like the way our ancestors had done, we were able to make use and build on the work of those past generations. We never needed to bother about things like making our own script or creating a new language for ourself. We only contribute our part in developing the existing things to further extent. This is a continuous and never-ending process.

Culture is a way of life. You, your family has some culture, so does your religion and country. In the next article, you will learn how Indian culture is unique and what are its characteristics.
