To Old Friends

All these years

have gone by,

remeber the tears

that we cried?

"Don't worry,

distance won't change us.

We'll still have memories,

we won't become strangers"

Was this some kind of

a truthful lie?

or was it, perhaps,

a compromise?

For despite it all,

we never were in touch.

So, it must've been

a little too much.

Tell me, though,

did you ever,

feel perplexed

looking at my texts?

Did it ever occur

to you,

who we were

and what we've been through?

We haven't been together

But I still wish for you

to find your forever,

and try things that are new.

I hope you've found

people or friends,

that keep you safe and sound.

You'll still remain in my heart

'cause you told me

we could never be thrown apart.

With this, I say goodbye

Still hoping you'll come by.

Maybe time did change us

And maybe we did become strangers.

I still laugh at how you said,
