Chernobyl is a mini television series written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck. This series comes under HBO's production house and gained more viewers of it's release date being closer to the Game of Thrones air date which of course has helped it gain some viewers as the dissatisfied GOT fans found their happiness in this series. Till now 4 episodes have aired and in India these are legally available in Hotstar Premium. The series deals with the Chernobyl Disaster of 1986. The disaster is still considered as one of the highly impactful man made disasters in the world. The series is critically well acclaimed by critics till now. The casting of this series mainly includes Jaden Harris,Stellan Skarsgård,Paul Ritter,Jessie Buckley,Adam Nagaitis,Con O'Neil and more.

In the first episode of Chernobyl the viewers get to go through an explosion in the nuclear power plant and how the characters try to fix it and underestimate the event being not that dangerous. Although they get to know that there has been a radiating source coming out of the plant, the scientists weren't able to agree to that fact that the fire in the plant was more dangerous than what they were expecting of. The firemen come towards the area of instability and try to get things under their control. This is when one of the firemen takes a piece of metal in his hands and gets burns all in his hands. The junior scientists try notifying it to their senior officer about the incident which they saw but the senior scientist Dyatlov couldn't agree to their point as the metal should've been Graphite and there was no way Graphite could be seen as Graphite is what the core was made of and it couldn't burst. He commands his juniors to open valve for the entry of water towards the area of the rupture.

Then we get to experience the fuss that evolves more and more and how the plot thickens eventually. It's actually amazing how the story moves as there are elements of amusement and fear brought together in this episode. Towards the end of it,we get to see that all the scepticism produced by the junior scientists get more likely to be true and how the course of the event's happening spreads like a wildfire. We even get to know the amount of martyrs who have gone unnoticed of the disaster which was growing more and more terrifying in the nick of just a couple of hours. During this time we can see some people inside the building getting killed of radiation while others put their life at stake and try to save these millions of people from radiation which they measured was of 3.6 roentgen. The director has also shown a special committee meeting explaining the situation to the higher officials and trying to reduce the panic. Meanwhile,we can also see another old man in the council who hypes up the members in the council of how these men can be the heroes of Russia by not letting any resident leave the town. Obviously at that state of time the man didn't knew about the radiation going higher and higher and hence expected to grab the opportunity to be a national hero. This episode had been one hell of a ride for me because I was able to experience the fuss and substituted myself for other characters and the episode really drew me in and helped me remain clutched. Even though there were some unnecessary shotsin the episode, the writing was really interesting and some shots were also good enough. The episode has an overall runtime of 1 hour 24 minutes, but still keeps it interesting throughout the episode. This series is a must watch for people who have been dissatisfied of the GOT season 8 and also others who like looking into science matters or history and also I would be doing more reviews of this show and others too.
