All the GoT seasons ranked.

Now that HBO's critically acclaimed TV show(adapted from George RR Martin's books, A Song of Ice and Fire), Game of Thrones has ended let's look back and rank all the 8 seasons from worst to best. Spoiler Alert.

8. Season 8
I guess we can all agree that GoT hit rock bottom this season. The rushed pacing, badly wrapped up character arcs, fan service and many more problems have been attributed to this season. Although the writing was universally panned(except for a few sequences such as Theon Greyjoy's death), the show's cinematography, CGI and Miguel Sapochnik's direction was praised. However Season 8 will go down as the worst season in GoT history.

7. Season 7
Although problems began plaguing the show from Season 5, it was only after this season that they felt like slaps across our faces. The whole plot point of Jon Snow capturing a Wight to convince Cersei about the one great threat was ridiculous and the rushed pacing became more glaring in this episode (looking at you, Gendry). However this season is not without its highs. The Spoils of War episode was beautifully choreographed and the director deserves a cookie. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's performance as Jaime Lannister was also great.

6. Season 5
GoT failed to follow up one of its great seasons with another great one, here as it began to lose its strides in this season. Ardent readers of the books will all agree with me if I said that the Dorne Plot is the worst storyline of the entire series. Potentially great characters such as Elaria Sand and her daughters The Sandsnakes, all went for a six. And don't even get me started on how Ser Barristan Selmy was unceremoniously killed off. Great work D&D. But the way the show handled the Hardhome massacre was amazing and Jon Snow's death, although unexpected and controversial, was brilliantly written.

5. Season 6
Now this pick might be a bit controversial. But apart from the final 2 episodes and a few notable scenes, this season wasn't great Game of Thrones, mainly because of Arya Stark's storyline. The Braavos storyline will go down as one of the most ridiculous and boring storyline in GoT history. However, the Arthur Dayne storyline, Hold the Door(I'm still crying) were all great. Cersei blowing up the Sept of Baelor was badass and I guess I don't have to say much about the Miguel Sapochnik's magnum opus The Battle of Bastards.

4. Season 2
Blackwater was the show's first great battle and the showrunners didn't disappoint. Although the Stannis plot was weakly constructed, this season introduced to us Brienne of Tarth. The politics going around in this season is also intriguing.

3. Season 1
This is where it all began. The honourable Eddard Stark is introduced and killed off in the penultimate episode, hence announcing that this show is unlike any other. Need I say more?

2. Season 3
Three words.
The Red Wedding.
If Eddard Stark's death was a warning, this was the punishment for getting emotionally invested in the characters. Again the politics in this season is brilliant and the mind games happening between Varys and Littlefinger is one of the best things in the show.

1. Season 4
This is GoT at its best. I'll just list out why.
The Purple Wedding
Tyrion's Trial
The Mountain vs the Red Viper.
The Nights Watch vs the Wildlings
Tywin's death.
And the mind blowing political intrigues.
