“If I say this to her, what will she think of me? What if she takes me wrong? What will happen after that? How will I face her!? “- We often come across such people who tend to think way beyond what has actually happened, we call them over thinkers. Overthinking, to some extent, is actually good as it is required in areas where we need to plan things accordingly. When we think over it, we tend to know about the future consequences which could occur.
But when we waste our time on thinking over unnecessary things again and again, that is where it becomes our weakness. We tend to imagine things and situations which might not be even possible in real life! I have myself been through this phase, and I know that it leads to nowhere. It just hampers our self peace and happiness without even providing with a solution.
Many people who have this habit develop a fear of speaking anything directly to the face because they think they will harm others or situation can get worse. They tend to transport themselves to some another kind of world where they just keep on visualising about all the possible factors and outcomes related to a particular theme. They start thinking about one topic and end up landing on another. It creates a trap of thoughts in their mind with no solution as the key.
If a person takes all the predictable features into consideration, then it might be thought as an asset. But one should realise that nothing should be kept above his/her own peace and satisfaction. Even though we do not speak certain things to someone just because we are afraid of losing connection with them, we should never put our self respect at stake.
Today in this carefree world, overthinking can be regarded as a weakness. The more we think about others, the more we care about them which though, makes us a good human being but can also lead to self harm and destruction. In such cases, influence of company matters a lot. When we have motivating people around us, they can help about bringing a positive change in our lives. The more we involve ourselves in other activities, the less time we will have to overthink.
To conclude with, here’s a popular saying-
“There is nothing in this world that can trouble you as much as your own thoughts.“
