The largest democracy of the world has many prohibitions based on cultures and religions. India, the developing country is reaching new heights day by day. It is successful in getting its name famous in each corner of the world. The tradition of each state speaks about its excellency itself.
But is it good to have development only in infrastructure, health, education, jobs, lifestyle and sanitation? You will definitely come up with the reply what else we want? The question is not about what we show but about what we think. The mentality needs to be developed. Putting useless and meaningless taboos proves the backwardness of minds.
India has 125 million English speakers. It is next after USA. Probably at very low rank in acceptance of new things. Of course there are hell lot of countries which don't even focus on gender equality, education, health and sanitation. But the comparison is not answer we require. Caste discrimination in Hindus, even though it is largely believed that untouchability and caste discrimination has reduced in the country, some orthodox Hindus still follow these discriminatory practices.
Women are not allowed to enter cremation grounds. Only men are allowed to enter cremation grounds and touch dead bodies. In every society, there are unwritten rules of behaviour that allow people to co-exist. When individuals break those rules, they are banned to join the functions by the rest of their community.
Conventional western medicine is based on science, research and technology. But in cultures around the world, many still look to monks, mystics and magic potions, putting their faith in extreme cures. So many monks were arrested in past years in crime of misbehaving and taking high charges. They make false stories and innocent people fall in their trap. Here women are worshipped like a goddess and are being prevented from entering the temple.
