I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry

I repeat this again and again like it is a verse from my favourite poem

I have been speaking for hours but all we have is silence

Can you hear me?

I blame these thoughts

I scream in agony from the pain of this silence

Can you hear me?

I ask you if you’re fine and you say “I will be soon”

I break down right after but all you see is an awkward smile

Can you hear me?

I am pleading, but with dignity

I miss that smile I saw before we were in this mess

I guess I have a lot of questions but no certainty of an answer

Can you hear me?

I am doing what I do best writing down whatever I possibly can

I doubt this will ever reach you

I speak a lot but in turn all I receive is silence

Can you hear me?

You are probably sitting on your own staring into oblivion listening to music that soothes your soul

I myself am fighting a lone battle, the echoes of which take over the world

Can you hear me?

You are not much of a talker and I am quite the overthinker

Feels like I leapt into the shallow end, gasping for air

Can you hear me?

I catch you looking at me from the corner of your eye

Will this silence ever go away? I wonder

It’s killing me

I hope you say something soon

Can you hear me ?
