An 11-year-old boy moved to the Bombay High Court seeking a ban on the popular mobile game ‘PUBG’. He filed a PIL through his mother saying that game promotes violence, aggression and cyber-bullying and the court should direct Maharashtra government to ban it, the PIL said.

The thing to consider here is that PUBG game is rated for 16+ which means people above 16 years of age can play this only but the question that arises is that “How this 16+ game is accessible to an 11-year-old?”.

Why is this game 16+ rated?

Because this game has extremem violenece and was not aimed for the age group below 16 due to the fact that small kids are prone to these kinds of behaviour easily as they try to copy whatever interesting or new they witness. So it was targeted for ages above 16 because people in this age group can better judge right and wrong and so are not prone easily. So keeping in mind his age group, the game is not for him for sure.

Is the boy right?

Partially. Because in these types of games, the player is constantly under excessive violence environment and being in the same for a long time may harm as well. So these types of games must be played with extreme care and must not be played for long intervals.

For this, now Tencent Games, the developer of PUBG, is now issuing a health advisory to players who play the game for long time intervals.

Another aspect is that it takes most of the user’s time, which he could have used in a better useful way. So in a way, this is killing your time.

What is the solution?

Excess of everything is harmful so the basic solution lies in the smart use of this game in a way that it helps us in some way.

Can it do any good?
Fact:- Even Indian cricket team also plays PUBG. Players like MS Dhoni, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar etc can be spotted playing this game in free time like waiting for a flight.

Yes, by using the game smartly and wisely,
1. It can help you focus quickly with the changing environment around you.
2. It can decrease your reaction time.
3. It can help your memory as you have to remember a lot of things around the map and thus can increase your reflexes.

4. If played in multiplayer, it helps in increasing teamwork and team spirit.
5. It boosts your moral and when you are doing well in a game, it can give you a “feel good factor”
6. It helps as a stress buster as the feel-good factor releases Cortisol, a stress buster hormone and so relaxes the person.

But all this happens under cautious and careful use or else it will have more negative impacts.

I never really thought about the positive aspects of PUB-G :P But well written. It's shocking to know that the PIL was filed by an 11 year old though! Nice fact.
