But the story is far bigger than an IPL Trophy. The story is of determination, patience and giving 100% in life.
What would be the meaning of fighting a war in a foreign land and giving your 100%?
Why would you do that?
Is Money the motivating factor? Is it Fame? or is it anything else?
Shane Watson retired from the Big Bash League on 27 April 2019.
Retiring from a league of his own country certainly says that there are only a couple of years of cricket left in him.
Now comes 12th May.
IPL FINAL-Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings.
The grand finale of the Indian Premier League is Here.
Mumbai bats first and score 149 runs.
Chennai need 150 runs to win the match.
Shane Watson is the opener along with Faf Du Plessis.
Shane Watson was the hero of 2018 IPL Final but can he do the same again?
The center stage is set.
Faf Du Plessis gets out after scoring 26 runs off 13 balls.
Still a mountain is left to conquer. Watson wants to pull this off for Chennai Super Kings. He continue his innings with players coming and leaving on the other side.
But there is a surprise in the story of the mountain. While making the dive Watson injures himself and starts to bleed.
He has 2 options now-
1.Leave the field, go back and get proper treatment. This isn't a trophy for the national side. You work for money which you will get irrespective of whether you continue to play or not.
2.Be the Hero and fight the battle while sweating and bleeding.
Guess what he chose the 2nd option.!
He almost won it for CSK but got out run while making another dive while he bleeding.
He might not have won the IPL final for CSK, but he won the heart of every person give 100% in thier life.
But the real question that still remain is why he did this?
Seriously what was the need?
The Answer is Chennai Super Kings.!
Confused?
According to Shane Watson in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad when he won the Man of the
Match after a dry patch:
"Most of the teams I've played in, I would have been dropped by now but they showed the trust in me"
CSK showed Trust in him.
Csk pamper not only the players but also thier families especially the kids.
Csk showed Love to Watson and his family.
DJ Bravo made a song for all the kids of Chennai Super kings. Bravo gave Watson the true teammate feeling.
This proves CSK is not just a team but an emotion. Be it Dhoni's tear during CSK's press conference when CSK came back after 2 years of ban or CSK arranging a train for the fans from Chennai to Pune when the matches were shifted to Pune.
This shows that when money is the only motivating factor, you might or might not give your 100%, but when things go beyond money-100% dedication and motivation comes automatically.
Watson might not be the hero we deserve but the hero we need to motivate us, to tell us the power of love, trust and things which go beyond money.
Thankyou Watson.!
