There are 1000’s of Bollywood movies released annually but only a few of these make a mark on people’s mind and get huge success at the box office. Most of the times, the success, and failure of a film largely depend on the stardom of the star cast, especially the male leads in the film.
Currently, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, Rajnikanth are the immensely popular superstars of the B-Town, whose almost every film becomes big money spinners and the biggest reason of this is their star power among the fans.
But, actually, apart from these most sellable superstars, a pool of some hugely talented actors is excited in Bollywood, who, despite their extreme talent, is not popular among fans as the other big superstars. Here is a list of underrated actors in bollywood:
despite being 49, at present is one of the most talented actors of Bollywood. Through his highly rated acting skills, Irrfan has made a different place in the B-Town. Irrfan’s first big film came in 2003 withHindi adapted film Maqbool. After this, his uninterrupted journey as the finest actor started and later on, he received the National Film Award for his performance in biographical film Paan Singh Tomar (2012). Irrfan is also one of the few Indian International actors who showcased his form of art in the global cinema. His amazing performance in The Namesake (2003), Life of Pie (2012), The Amazing Spiderman(2012) and Jurassic World (2015) got him International name and fame.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is another immensely talented actor in Bollywood. Nawaz had seen lots of struggle initially and worked in several Hindi films as a cameo. Due to his not so good looks, nobody wanted to cast him in their film but the jinks had been broken by the lead role in his highly acclaimed gangster film Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) which was actually a career-changing film for Nawaz. One after one, he stunned the filmmakers with his wonderful acting in films like Talaash (2012), Kahaani(2012), The Lunchbox (2013), Badlapur(2015), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Manjhi -The Mountain Man (2015).And we cannot forget about Sacred Games as well!
Manoj Bajpai is also one of the unfortunate underrated Bollywood actors despite huge talent lies within it. His form of art we have seen in films like Shool (1999), Zubeidaa (2001), Pinjar(2003), Raajneeti (2010), Gangs of Wasseypur and Aligarh (2016). Manoj was awarded National Film Award for Best Actor for Satya and Special Jury National Award for Pinjar.
Naseeruddin Shah was basically a stage actor, who started his acting career with theatre and plays. He was honored with three National Film Awards and Indian Government has felicitated him with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. he got most of his recognition from his off-beat roles like in Nishant, Aakrosh,Masoom, Sparsh, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Arth Satya and Mandi and Wednesday.
Be it Pandit Ji from Fukrey or Sultan from Gangs of Wasseypur, Tripathi has shown why talent can’t be hidden for long. The actor, who started with commercials and smaller roles went on to star in some of the most prominent films of the new era of the industry. But that’s it! While fans would love to watch more of Tripathi in films and television, the actor has not really been fortunate to make it big in the industry and has only been limited to supporting roles. Some of rolesincludeMirzapur, Sacred Games , Criminal justice , Luka Chuppi and much more.
These actors are slowly emerging from all the movies and no doubt they might be featuring in their old lead films soon.
