Every once in a while comes a game that takes the gaming world and players by storm. This time, it’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Better known by its acronym — PUBG. Ever since the multiplayer game released on smartphones, PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) has become a rage in the gaming world.

In PUBG, you as mercenaries and your opponents are left on an island with no ammo, guns or supplies – not even clothes. You collect everything of need to protect yourself. The game starts with a big circular play zone that makes players come close as the game continues and kill each other while trying to stay alive till the end.

Game that is won by last man standing. Initially, the game became a huge hit among youngsters all around the world after a free mobile phone version was released in March, 2018. According to youngsters, unique features of PUBG make it stand out among other online video games. Players can talk to each other online using a ‘microphone’ during gameplay. Moreover, the game boasts one of the best graphics for a mobile phone game. Also it has competition base among the friends as it has the rating criteria which makes the players competitive and more inclined towards it. It is also said to be more elaborate and complex than other battle royale games. The gameplay is not lengthy but the desire to win makes you play in loop. The game does not force anything on you to play it a certain way, it just gives you the tools and allows you to apply your own strategies to win the game. Since it is a goal oriented game, you can keep trying out different techniques, try out different guns, land in different places, try to go aggressive or defensive — it is completely your choice.

It’s an addictive game.And the addiction is real.There are students who play this game for five hours or maybe more than that. Every user is trying to get a higher season rank while trying to increase his rank levels. This requires a lot of gameplay and concurrent matches making it more addictive.

“I have started playing PUBG 10 days ago. There are some in my college who bunk lectures to play the game,” said Nihar Amberkar, a student at MD College, Parel.

The delerium has reached to levels where a teenage has evencommitted suicide when he was not allowed to play the game. And while this might be an extreme, people prioritizing playing the game over other daily stuff is commonplace now.
