Iron suits, Super serums, Gamma rays and Superhuman strength are surely one impressive lot of powers to carry but Magic overrules all of them when it comes to leaving us awestruck by the vivid display of cosmic or psionic energies. The magicians in this cinematic Universe are elite and extremely powerful beings.
Unlike other powers, magic is not something that can possibly be scaled because of its' immeasurability but Dang it! We will give it a try, regardless.
Here are the 6 strongest magicians in MARVEL Universe who found their way into the movies and established themselves as the verbatim 'spellbounding' characters of all time:
6. Loki
The God of mischief has a separate fan base, all thanks to Tom Hiddleston. One of the most sweet-worded characters in the entire Marvel Universe has made his way into our hearts. Although he is the son of a frost giant, he was brought up in Asgard by Odin. He has the longevity, durability and strength of an Asgardian. Coming to his mystical powers, they are well...obviously, Godly. He can cast very powerful illusions, read minds, alter thoughts of other people and even create forcefields.
In the MCU, Loki's ability to change his appearance is through his illusion-based powers, but in the Comics, it is part of his ability to shape shift through magic. Furthermore, Loki can also bring life to inanimate objects, temporarily bestow superhuman abilities on others, teleport across great distances. Loki's magical power is so great that the Silver Surfer once said 'it was enough to decimate a planet'.
5. The Ancient One
The previous Sorcerer Supreme protected Earth from dark forces for 500 years or so. The Ancient One, as in movies, is a female character with immense mystical powers. She was the mentor to very powerful sorcerers like Mordo, Kaecilius and Doctor Strange. In the movies, she draws powers from the dark dimensions and is even more powerful in the mirror world. In the Comics, however, the character is male and not so supreme, to be honest. In the movies, we have seen that she is an omniscient in terms of mystical knowledge and can astrally project herself or others with a mere push like rendering Professor Hulk defenseless by separating his soul and body or defeating Kaecilius and his army with complete and absolute ease.
"Darling, you have no idea what's possible" was the statement she made when she desisted and crumbled Mjolnir with her bare hands (!!whatttt?!) which was undoubtedly one of the most powerful weapons in the Marvel universe. The goddess of death is Odin's daughter in the Cinematic universe while her origin theory in the Comics is really twisted where she is Loki's daughter, like...from the previous Asgard and…. let's just not get into that. Anyway, Hela, as we saw in Thor:Ragnarok is nearly inevitable. She can literally kill people with a touch, simultaneously absorbing their life energy. Apart from the powers bestowed to her in the movies, she is also capable of heavily influencing illusions, astral projections and concussive blasts. She can also summon blades of any size from thin air that can pierce through the strongest materials in existence. She is, in all senses, Unstoppable.
3. Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff
Wanda is argued to be the most powerful Avenger and we have all the reasons to back it up. She manhandled Thanos all by herself in Avengers:Endgame and nearly killed him before he commanded rainfire. In Avengers: Infinity war, we all went bananas when she repelled Thanos with one hand while he was using the other five Infinity stones while she simultaneously destroyed the Mind stone with her other hand !! Jeez, woman !
She is termed as a "weapon" in Age of Ultron and we all know why. Surprisingly enough, these feats are nothing compared to the Wanda in Comics where her powers know no boundaries. She uses Chaos magic to alter the fabric of reality itself, which, in a nutshell, means she can do anything she wants to. She can even alter the probabilities of any combat that the Avengers run into, which is, beyond questions, a very powerful move.
She wiped off almost all the mutants with only three words, that were, "No more mutants". She has outmaneuvered her brother, transmogrified Thor's lightning and defeated the dark Phoenix too ! DAYUM, this girl is a full package.
The Sorcerer Supreme, the protector of the Time stone, the master of mystical arts or the man who didn't spoil the movie for us even after watching 14 million+ alternatives, you pick the title. He is ,undoubtedly, the most famous magician in Marvel movies and comics. He has spent years learning the mystical arts gaining absolute mastery over them. He, too, single-handedly resisted Thanos for a time being. Even in the movies, his powers have no known limits. In every scene, we got to see a new trick of his, be it making a waterspout of a flooding, casting numerous projections of himself or summoning the crimson bands of Cyttorak. In the Comics, Strange has invoked powerful mythical beings for protection, held his own against Adam Warlock and defeated the In-betweener. Except Wanda's Chaos magic, Strange can practice any other spell that the other magicians in the list are capable of doing which truly make him the Supreme.
1.Dormammu
This rightful heir of the Dark dimension is an inevitable character in the Marvel movies as of now. He could only be bargained with and never defeated by Doctor Strange or any other sorcerer in that regard. He belongs to the Faltine species, and uses the powerful force called 'Flames of the Faltine' which can destroy entire worlds in one go. He can traverse through dimensions, practice necromancy and even manipulate time and reality.
He defeated an entire army of powerful heroes comprising Doctor Strange, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider and others with a simple shrug. His remarkable feats include overpowering a host of the Phoenix force and mystically confining the cosmic entity known as Eternity. His powers are limitless and he's one of the most feared supervillains of all time.
With Dormammu, the list concludes but none of them have pulled off that card trick like Ant-man did, so we all know who's the greatest trickster in our favorite Universe.
All hail our little boy, Scott. ;)
