HISTORY OF INDIAN RAIL SYSTEM- HOW IT BEGAN
The first passenger train of india was introduced in the 19th century which travelled for 1.6 km with hundreds of people from Mumbai to Thane. This was introduced to serve millions of localites as well as the foreign tourists all over the country.

The system was introduced in 1850 but the trains started from 1853. It faced many test and checks and also required great amount of labor, land, and resources to be made. In the starting, the system was controlled by the East Indian Company but later on the indian rails overed approximately 4000 miles of area.

The reign of the system extended and also some foreign contractors were hired to look over the indian rail system. Now, the indian rails extended to the distance of 9000 miles, mainly to the states like Bombay, Calcutta and Madras. Now in 1854 the first mountain trains also called the toy trains were commenced and the rail system started to provide facilities like sanitation, electricity etc.

As the 19th century began, the rails system got flourished year by year and also many other trains were introduced. But suddenly after the first world war the system got degraded.

A After 1925 , the railway system introduced the Electric trains but during the last years of british rule the railway system faced financial problems and people gave more preference to the wagons instead of trains.

Then came the time when india got independence, in 1947 the indian rail system enjoyed the blooming period. As the states were separated, several routes were made for maintaining the connectivity.

Then in 2000 the technology grew more and the indian metro system was introduced.
And today, metros and monorails are so popular amongst every city. And online ticket booking also got started in 2000s. India was achieving great heights in the field of Railways. And today around thousands of people travel daily through metros and lakhs of passengers travel from the trains. The examples of indian trains that are immensely popular are Shahtabd.i Express, Double Decker train (newly introduced), Rajdhani Express, Dayodaya Express and many more. The indian railway system has taken the railways and facilities to the next level- amenities like A/C clean toilets, food facilities, etc.

Today the indian rail system is the fourth largest railway system in the entire world and it's growing day by day. The current Railway Minister "Piyush Goyal" promised that everyone will have access to free wi-fi facility. The Indian Railway System is working really hard to expand its services to world-wide.
