As a consequence of watching both FRIENDS and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, major English TV series, too similar to one another which picture the lives of a group of friends living just above their favorite hangout spot and hustling with confusing relationships, finally, finding their peace, I have decided to watch a unique (non-sitcom) series and was shuffling through many shows until the moment of realization hit me in the form of a meme on the social media.
' Sacred Games On Netflix, highest rated Indian show ever!', being a choosy person, I have gone on to IMDB and was astonished to see 9+ (at that time) rating and almost 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I was happy to see the names of big stars like Saif Ali Khan, Nawaz bhai (that's how I call him), Radhika Apte and the main reason behind watching, Anurag Kashyap sharing the direction responsibilities along with Vikramaditya Motwane.
The fact that all these biggies came together to make a web television series, trusting the content alongside the changing attitude of the audience towards the entertainment industry in mind was a brave and required step.
Book adaption can't be better than that of our own Sacred Games.
The correlation of the Hindu Myths and the Episode's titles are next level.
The comeback for any actor can't be better than Saif 's comeback with Sacred Games.
Performances from Radhika Apte as Anjali Mathur, Jitendra Joshi as Constable Katekar, Kubra Sait as Kukoo were top notch.
But the person with God-level acting skills proves that he just keeps getting better and when the Nawaz- Anurag combination is on cards, you can expect an epic cinematic experience.
Ganesh Gaitonde, a gangster in exile for almost 16 years returning back to Mumbai and tipping of Sartaj Singh regarding the attacks that are about to dismantle the whole country just because of the little good deeds done by Sartaj's father blows the viewer's mind.
The Flashback depicting how Gaitonde became the formidable person shows us some raw, intense, not so subtle scenes which are Anurag Kashyap's denotation.
So why exactly did I call it a game changer?
It showed, how well the audiences are into the online content. The way people owned the characters made everyone realize how emphatic the impact would be with large content that cannot fit in a movie.
Following the success path, series like MIRZAPUR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE, KOTA FACTORY, SELECTION DAY (though some people are going to argue for not including their favorites, I don't care) are the most successful and popular web series created by our Indians to date.
HOPE THE 2ND SEASON GETS OUT FAST.
AND ALSO HOPE THAT MORE AND MORE SERIES LIKE THESE WILL BE MADE IN FUTURE AND MAKE THE INDIAN INDUSTRY PROUD.
