For me, photography is art and I personally feel that art can never be ranked fairly because perceived beauty is subjective to an individual’s preference. Hence, here's a list of 5 photographers that have inspired me growing up. (in no particular order of preference)

1.Sudhir Shivaram

Sudhir Shivaram started out by working with Hewlett-Packard as an engineer but is now a full-time photographer turned teacher conducting full time photography workshops and tours, so things evidently changed directions for him since 1993. Awarded Sanctuary Asia’s title of “wildlife photographer of the year” in 2012, Sudhir Shivaram has come to be known as one of the most inspiring photographers especially in the field of wildlife.

He was one of the brand ambassadors for Canon and the founding member of India Nature Watch.

2.Rathika Ramasamy

Coming from a village in the southern part of India, she has definitely come a long way to be one of the most remarkable Indian wildlife photographers. Now based in Chennai, she is specializing in bird photography.

In the beginning of her career as a photographer, she started making her way upward by actively participating in campaigns and workshops. Working her way up, she was recognised by ‘birds of India’, Doordarshan, ‘Ucelli In Natura’ (an Italian magazine) and various other organisations for her astonishing work.

Now, known internationally for her amazing talent and hard work, she has been a part of the jury for major events such as the 4th and 7th National Photography Awards, Siena International Photo Awards, URBAN 2016 and 2018 Awards (Italy) and many more.

A self-taught photographer, started out in the year 2011 and has worked tirelessly since with National Geographic. Varun Aditya won the first prize as Natgeo Nature photographer of the year 2016. As a reward for winning a contest conducted by Natgeo in 2013, he travelled to Costa Rica and Panama on expedition.

Varun Aditya has travelled across India and abroad to wildlife conservation parks to capture nature and everything that it has to offer. He also teaches photography on field through expeditions and tours in India and Africa.

4.Shivang Mehta

Started out as a journalist and PR professional, Shivang Mehta left his corporate job to give wildlife photography a chance to be more than just a hobby. His list of special mentions goes on for a while starting from Nature conservancy 2010 to Nature’s Best Asia 2017 to six honorary mentions by Eyewin Photography Awards 2018. He is also the author of ‘A Decade With Tigers’ describing the lives of prominent tiger characters of India in the past decade. He has scored a position as the official brand ambassador of Canon India. So it’s safe to say that Shivang Mehta has made his way up the success ladder in a much different career choice he started out with.
