Lakme Fashion Week

Lakmé Fashion Week is a bi-annual fashion event that takes place in Mumbai. Its Summer-Resort show takes place in April while theWinter-Festive show takes place in August. It is considered as one of the premier fashion event in India . Along with FDCI's India Fashion Week and India Runway Week. It is jointly run and organized by lakmé, and IMG Reliance Limited, where title sponsor is Lakme. Lakme fashion week is entitled as one of the greatest fashion event of India. Lakme fashion week 2019 was the fashion extravaganza and spring collections from well-known designers like Gaurav Gupta, Anita Dongre, Ajay Kumar Singh, Bobo Calcutta, Helena Bajaj Larsen & Yavi. Big names from the Tinsel Town like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Vidya Balan, Karan Johar, Tabu, Mouni Roy, among other, turned showstoppers for designers at the five-day long event.

The event first took place in 1999. International models such as Naomi Campbell as well as Indian film stars such as Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora Khan and Arjun Rampal have participated in it. International labels that have taken part in LFW include Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, and Roberto Cavalli. Among Indian designers, Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani, and Ritu Beri have taken part in the event.The event has been responsible for launching the careers of designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Sport Stars Of Fashion Week

The Lakmé Fashion Week wasn't all about Bollywood, stars from the sports world also graced the ramp. Badminton ace PV Sindhu walked the ramp for desinger Misfit Panda. She wore a sublte white dress and completed the look with quirky purple shoes.The event witnessed another star from the badminton world, Saina Nehwal. The 31-year-old walked the ramp in an elegant yellow dress by designer Vaani Raghupathy. She completed her look with a choker necklace.Wrestler Geeta Phogat also joined the line-up of sports stars at the Lakmé Fashion Week. She turned showstopper for designer EKA.
