Ask a teenager what he or she feels about school. They are obviously gonna say they hate going to school. Now ask them about the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They are gonna go nuts and would start fanboying or fangirling over Hogwarts and how much they want to go there and learn magic and do all the cool stuff that Harry Potter and his friends do. It is the dream place to visit for every Potterhead in the world.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a fictional British school located in Scotland in the universe of the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling. It is a school that teaches magic to students aged eleven to eighteen. It was founded by Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin, based on whose names are the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, which values courage, bravery and chivalry; Ravenclaw, which values intelligence, creativity and wit; Hufflepuff, which values hard work, patience and loyalty; and Slytherin, which values ambition, cunningness and leadership. All the four houses earn and lose points throughout the year based on their performance in classes, sports and in general, and at the end of the year, the team with the most points wins the House Cup.

At the age of eleven, every person who has magic in his or her blood, or in simpler words, is a wizard or a witch, receives a letter from Hogwarts stating that they can take admission in Hogwarts. Along with the letter, there comes a list of equipments one would need. Muggles cannot take admission in Hogwarts and are unaware of the world of magic. In fact, several spells are cast on Hogwarts so that it can't be seen by a muggle.

They are taught several magical subjects which differ a lot from the actual world in Hogwarts. Twelve teachers are there in Hogwarts, each holding a specialty in one of the subjects. They are taught the History of Magic, Charms, Potions, Defence Against The Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Astronomy and Herbology in the first five years which are compulsory for all students. After completion of the second year, the students are required to choose at least two more subjects among Arithmancy, Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies and Study of Ancient Runes. They are given flying lessons as well along with the theory subjects.

Students need to take the Hogwarts Express from the hidden Platform 9¾ at King's Cross station in London, in order to reach Hogwarts. Immediately after reaching, the students take small boats and cross the lake to reach the Hogwarts entrance, from where senior students ride up to the castle, while the first-year students go to the great hall for the Sorting Ceremony: a ceremony in which the students are sorted into their respective houses on the basis of their abilities, personality or preference, by the Sorting Hat. After the ceremony, the students and teachers enjoy the welcoming feast in the dining hall and the students go to their House Dormitories, from where their journey to learn magic in Hogwarts begins.
