The Arab World

The Arab World or The Arab Nation is an area which comprises of 22 Arabic-speaking countries, which together make up to be the members of The Arab League. With a population of around 422 million inhabitants, the Arab world is spread in an area of 13.13 million km². It is spread in the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of East Africa.

There is no particular criteria to be a part of the Arab world, except that all the countries that are a part of the Arab league come under the Arab world. The Arab League is an organization which deals with the affairs in the interests of the Arabs, who are those which speak Arabic and live in an Arabic country.

The Arab World is very fascinating in terms of the culture, food, languages spoken, tradition, festivals, clothing, and many more interesting factors. It is very unique and its uniqueness makes many people attracted towards it and leaving them desperate to learn more about it and visit it sometime.

The 22 Countries

1. ALGERIA - Largest country in Africa and in the Arab World. Located in North Africa. Capital is Algiers. Tamazight and French are also spoken other than Arabic and currency is Dinar. Ranked 1 in terms of area.

2. BAHRAIN - An island country located in the Persian Gulf. Third smallest nation in Asia. Capital is Manama. Official language spoken is Arabic and currency is Bahraini Dinar. Ranked 1 in terms of density.

3. COMOROS - An island country located in the Indian Ocean. Fourth smallest nation in Africa in terms of area. Capital is Moroni. Official languages are Comorian, Arabic and French and currency is Comorian Franc.

4. DJIBOUTI - Located in the Horn of Africa. A multi-ethnic nation. Capital is Djibouti. Official languages are French, Arabic, Somali and Afar and currency is Djiboutian Franc.

5. EGYPT - A popular country located in Northeast Africa. A country with huge historical significance, dating back to 6th-4th millennium B.C.E. Capital is Cairo. Famous for Pyramids. Official language is Arabic and currency is Egyptian Pound.

6. IRAQ - Located in Western Asia. Home to diverse ethnic groups. Capital is Baghdad. Has a federal government and known to be politically unstable. Official languages are Arabic and Kurdish and currency is Iraqi Dinar.

7. JORDAN - Located in Western Asia. Eleventh most populous Arab country. Capital is Amman. Official language is Arabic and currency is Jordanian Dinar.

8. KUWAIT - Located in Western Asia. 70% of the population is comprised of Expatriates. Capital is Kuwait City. Country with high-income economies. Official language is Arabic and currency is the Kuwaiti Dinar.

9. LEBANON - Located in Western Asia. Ranked 3 in terms of density. Capital is Beirut. Official languages are Arabic and French and currency is Lebanese Pound.

10. LIBYA - Located in Maghreb region in North Africa. Fourth largest country in Africa. Capital is Tripoli. Official language is Arabic and currency is Libyan Dinar.

11. MAURITANIA - Located in Northwest Africa. Eleventh largest state in Africa. Capital is Nouakchott. Official language is Arabic and currency is Ouguiya.

12. MOROCCO - Located in Maghreb region of North Africa. Home to famous Arabic singers. Capital is Rabat and largest city is Casablanca. Official languages are Arabic and Berber and French is also spoken and currency is Moroccan Dirham.

13. OMAN - Located in Western Asia. Important in the Persian Gulf. 70th most peaceful country in the world. Capital is Muscat. Official language is Arabic and currency is Omani Rial.

14. PALESTINE - Located in Western Asia. Known for the Israel-Palestine conflict. Proclaimed capital is Jerusalem. Official language is Arabic and currencies are Egyptian Pound, Israeli new shekel and Jordanian Dinar.

15. QATAR - Located in Western Asia. Has a high-income economies. Capital is Doha. Official language is Arabic and currency is Riyal.

16. SAUDI ARABIA - Located in Western Asia. Largest country in the Middle East. Home to Mecca and Medina, the holiest places in Islam. Capital is Riyadh. Official language is Arabic and currency is Saudi Riyal.

20. TUNISIA - Located in Maghreb region of North Africa. Only fully democratic sovereign state in the Arab world. Capital is Tunis. Official language is Arabic and currency is Tunisian Dinar.

21. UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - Located in Western Asia. Known for its high-income economy and modern lifestyle. Capital is Abu-Dhabi and largest city is Dubai. It has multi-cultural ethnic groups. Official language is Arabic and currency is UAE Dirham.

22. YEMEN - Located in Western Asia. Second largest Arab sovereign state in the Arab World. Most corrupt country in the area. Capital is Sana'a. Official language is Arabic and currency is Yemeni Rial.
