Rajasthan –a state of Kings, Palaces, Lok geets, hidden secrets and what not.
I have heard and seen a lot about Bhangarh, Chudails with twisted feet, practice of exorcism in specific temples and the belief of some people on Black magic on Television and Videos.

Some people trying to proof that they stayed a night on a specific haunted place and all. They also record their experiences.

What I only see there is night….???
Frightening voices and some bad camera angles or tricks.
Rajasthan is a curiosity generating state for me personally.
Mischievous, beautiful and a devil combination is that for youth.
These are foremost thoughts which come to today’s generation. Who would have thought that Rajasthan's people could also believe deeply in the Romantic tale of Dola Maru also?

On my personal research I found out:

This painting depicts the life of Dola and Maru during their journey back homeand you will automatically find the cause of me telling you this.

Let’s time travel to thattime when Dhola was a Narwar prince and Maru was Poogal princess and bothgot married in childhood.

Downfall came for Dhola when his father and mother died and he forgot about the nuptial. Then, he got married to Malwani. They both had no knowledge about Dhola's first marriage. There life after marriage started.

How sad was that…Maru kept waiting for Dhola all those years, that one day he will come back for her Gauna (for taking her to his home).

Maybe, she was also aware about societal norms.
These customs are still prevalent in the remote corners of the society. When I look up to this story, I still feel Maru's pain because in spite of being beautiful, young and terrific. Folks, still found faults in her.

This time the case was different.
Maru was not a typical illiterate girl who was ready to sacrifice her dreams. She was not happy but more than that worried that why he doesn’t return, confused yet doesn’t lose her hope and faith.

Fate had something else in store.
Dhola’s second wife came to know.
Many messages were sent by Maru to Dhola, she never got a reply actually Malwani bumped off all of them.

On being vacillate, a group of folk singers of Poogal visited the King of Narwar and started singing about Maru’s life, misery, nuptial and how she was still waiting.

The folks of Rajasthan have always believed in deity worshipping and ancestors worshipping who died at a very young age and have now became spiritual beings who constantly bless them.

Maybe Maru's fate was written by her deity whom she worshipped. Dhola had to face many difficulties to see even the reflection of Maru. First, was his second wife with whom destiny also played wrong, tried to compel him to not go.

He remained determined, so her attempts failed.
Dhola started his journey to fetch Maru.
Second problem: Umar Sumar, who wanted to marry Maru as he was astonished by Maru's beauty.
He told Dhola that Maru has become old and he should leave her.
Dhola did not care. Such was his deep trust.
Dhola met Maru and two worlds meet.

On journey back to Narwar while resting, Maru got bitten by a snake.
When Dola returned and got to know about her, he tries to burn himself .
Fortunately, saved on time by a Yogi and Yogini, who claimed to bring Maru back to life.
They played their magical musical instruments and with its melodious tunes brought her back to life...

This is a famous folkfore of Rajasthan and girls and boys of Rajasthan want grooms and brides like Dhola and Maru.

How strange was Dhola and Maru love.......What would you have done if you were at Maru's place.....
