Appearances Are Illusive

I said -it has four legs, it's a cat
But it was a dog...
I said it is green, it's a green apple
But it was grape...
I said it is endless and deep, it's sky
But it was ocean...
I considered whatever I thought
But eyes themselves are deceptive...

A phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" is very common to all of us. A simple line covers a broad meaning, we generally ignore.You might have observed the elders of your house oftenly giving their views on a criminal, like "But he seems to be a person of a cultured family, how can he be a criminal! " . This is a common example where we cansay that appearances are illusive.

It is not always the case that the looks resemble the inner soul of a person. It can be taken as positive as well as negative. Sometimes a person withsweet temper and innocent face turns out to be a traitor. On the other hand, a person with scary and terrible looks is actually a soft hearted one.

Usually, in our society whatever given by god has to be respected, but here the irony lies that god himself has given us different body shapes, height, weight, colour, but people always judge a person through his/her body features.The discrimination on the basis of colour or race is also the outcome of this sort of narrow thinking of our society.

Usually , a girl is always asked to be dressed beautifully. She is alwaysasked to maintain her figure and face in order to ACCEPTED BY THE SOCIETY and thus a tag of IDEAL BEAUTY is given to her.But is this a real definition of BEAUTY!!But our society defines the beauty in this manner. Whatever a person thinks, however a person behaves is just a secondary thing, your appearance is primary and main criteria for the society to define yourbeauty.

You have capabilities..

You need looks..
Have them..
I will never reject you"
This is what the point of veiw of the society actually is.

It is very easy to make a negative opinion about a person just because we don't like the way he/she looks.

We spend our plenty of time in decorating ourselves. We always want to leave a graceful impression of ourselves in front of people. But it is not the first impression or anything like that, which tells about the basic nature and character of a person.

The talent speaks louder than the looks.A person is remembered because of his works not because of outer appearances. The external beauty is not a reliable criteria to know the quality of what lies within. Appearances can mislead our minds to some other directions which are far away from truth or the reality. Thus it can be said that the appearances are illusive.
