A job, or occupation, is a person's role in society. More specifically, a job is an activity, often regular and often performed in exchange for payment ("for a living"). Many people have multiple jobs (e.g., parent, homemaker, and employee). A person can begin a job by becoming an employee, volunteering, starting a business, or becoming a parent. The duration of a job may range from temporary (e.g., hourly odd jobs) to a lifetime (e.g., judges).

As many as 122,000 jobs were added during the October-December 2016 quarter that witnessed demonetisation, an increase of over three times (281 percent) compared to its previous quarter that added 32,000 jobs.

One of every three IITians graduating this year either didn’t find a suitable job or wasn’t found suitable for a job through campus placement, official data show, pointing to shrinking employment opportunities for India’s large pool of engineering talent.

Only 66% of those who made themselves available for campus recruitment landed a job offer in 2016-17, as against 79% in 2015-16 and 78% in 2014-15, according to data made available by IITs to the human resource development (HRD) ministry. Out of 9,104 student in 17 IITs who applied this year, only 6,013 got jobs.

India’s estimated economic growth has slowed to 7.1% in 2016-17 from 7.9% in the previous year.

Overpopulation not just causes more population for employment but qlso enhances employers to hire employees at lower wage since there are most applicants to go around.

INDIA UNEMPLOYMENT CRISIS

according to world bank, in india 1.3 million youths need jobs every month .more than 8 million jobs required every year for India to keep its employment constant which is very difficult for government too to maintain still the government is trying its level best and recently 15 schemes launched by indian govt to reduce unemployment.

For a developed country one of the criteria is controlled population also . And the country also need.
