The Indian hospitality chain OYO, has increased it’s presence by investing $100 million in Indonesia. It’s not even been a quarter while for OYO to enter the entrepreneur world of Indonesia, today it is claimed to be the 3rd largest chain of hotels in the South East. Launched in October last year, the company started it’s operations in Indonesia with 30 inventory full franchised exclusive hotels and 1000 rooms in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Palembang. At present time, it has grown upto thrice the starting size over 3 months, to over 4100 rooms from more than 150 hotels in 16 cities. Their aim is now to expand to about 100 cities by the end of this new year, as said by Ritesh Agarwal in a press statement.
Founded by a 25-year-old college dropout, OYO has been giving major competition to all hotel chains in Southeast Asia. The company has already had a strong hold on India and China with over n number of hotels under it. They aim to be the world’s highest chain of hotels by 2023 generating a great revenue and profit.
OYO’s investment news comes after it’s rival RedDoorz’s regional plan of expansion in Indonesia. The Singapore budget- based chain of hotels declares to expands it’s chain of hotels in 10 new cities of Indonesia. Recently, they expanded in the Philippines right after OYO declared it’s expansion in the same region.
OYO has more than 1,80,000 franchised and leased rooms all over China within a period of one year. Currently, it has over 5,500 employees working in China, in OYO hotels.After Malaysia and Nepal, China is OYO’s third overseas market. It currently has over 12,000 franchised or leased hotels and over 3,000 homes as a part of its chain. It also launched operations into the United Arab Emirates in October last year.
