Recently, I came across a line from a monk that shook me more than I expected.
He said:
“You are not suffering because someone left you.You are suffering because you refuse to accept that they chose a life without you.”
The words hit me like a slap—sharp, sudden, and painfully true.
At first, I felt anger rise in my chest.
How could something so harsh possibly be part of a healing journey? How could anyone accept that someone they once loved deeply… simply chose a life that didn’t include them?
But the more I sat with it, the more I realized:
Pain grows in the place where reality is resisted.
And oh, how much I had been resisting.
I wasn’t grieving that it happened anymore.
I was grieving the memories, the plans we made, the promises whispered under the safety of togetherness.
I was clinging to the story we built—because letting it go felt like letting a part of myself go.
But the truth?
It’s not the story that hurts.
It’s acknowledging the fact that things didn’t end the way they were supposed to.
The script changed, and I was the only one still reading from the old pages.
It’s The Hardest Question I Ever Asked Myself, in the Quiet Moments
“If someone truly wants to be in your life, how often do you need to convince them to stay?”
And that question pierced deeper than any goodbye.
Love—real love—doesn’t require begging.
It doesn’t need constant explanation.
It doesn’t ask you to prove your worth over and over again.
If someone wants you in their life, you feel it.
Not in big gestures, not in dramatic declarations…
but in the consistency, the presence, the small moments they choose you without being asked.
Accepting that someone chose a life without you isn’t about self-blame.
It’s about reclaiming your peace.
It’s about understanding that you were not left behind—you were redirected.
It’s about realizing your story doesn’t end where someone else walked away.
And most importantly, it’s about remembering:
You deserve a life where you are chosen willingly, not out of convenience or habit.
You are not broken because someone left.
You are human because you loved.
Healing begins the moment we stop resisting what is,
and start embracing what can be.
So yes, maybe they chose a life without you.
But now, you get to choose a life with yourself—and that’s the beginning of a much more honest,
And beautiful story that I never want to Write Ever Again !!!
