Seriously guys I’m just fed up from untangling my earphones over and over again and I’m sure you guys also do this frequently, but did you think that why earphones got tangled and is there any trick to get rid of this problem? Let’s find it out in this article.

Reason Of Tangling

The reason behind it is second law of thermodynamics. This law says that in our world the entropy increases with time. Now what is entropy? Entropy means disorder, means anything that is not in a particular order like your earphone or your room. Most of us have a messy room but why? Because there are billions and trillions ofways to making a room messy but there is only one way to clean the room. There is a better example if we take water in the cap of a bottle and put it on a table then water make different shapes every time because the molecules of water have billions and trillions of way to form a shape and it’s called entropy of water or its disorder. Similarly earphones have so many ways to form different patterns that are why most of the time they get tangled.

Research

In 2007 a detailed research also conducted on earphones named as Spontaneous knotting of an agitated string. In this experiment many wires of different length and thickness are in different boxes and then these boxes rotates for various time and then they conclude that tangling of wire depends upon its length and banding stiffness. Wire of less than 46cm never get tangled and then as the length increases its chances of get tangled also increases. General earphones are around 150cm that’s why there is much tangling in our earphones.

Major Role In Tangling

It’s free ends. When we put earphones in our pocket then due to by just miner vibration one of its free end make a naught and as the time increase it get worst. If there are 3 earphones together then total no. of free ends are 9 which lead to more worst tangling. But instead of earphones if we take rubber bands and apply several actions of tangling it, they never get tangled because they are in a perfect loop but our earphones have 3 free ends.

Simple Solution

Put the rubber on these free ends and it will make earphone a perfect loop. Now however you want to put the earphones, it will never get tangled. You can use anything to tie up these free ends and if you don’t want to do tie up then make sure whenever you put these earphones in your pocket then put these free ends outside of it. But I think idea of rubber band is quite good right!

Don’t use cheap earphones and headphones for long time because it will damage your hearing power.
