Everybody knows from his own experience how fine dishes please the palate. It is not enough that our food should be wholesome; it must be tasty too. But what is it that imparts the taste? The answer is ‘SPICES’ and that is why in the preparation of many of the items of food which make up one bill of fare, we make use of different kinds of spices.

As with food, so with our life. The desire to enjoy life springs eternal in the human beast. But what is it that reduces the dullness and monotony of life? What is it that adds joy and flavor to life? The answer is variety. In the case of life, variety is what spices are in the case of food. It is but natural that man should crave for variety in life because sameness soon proves boring. That is why no one likes to wear the same dress, to see the same sight, to listen to the same song, to read the same book and to talk about the same things every single day. Without variety, our life loses most of its charms and will be nothing but an intolerable burden to carry on with. Monotony doesn’t let us break free and try things differently. It sets us into a regular monotonous pattern that feels more like a caged existence.

Man is like a stringed instrument. In such an instrument, the various strings or cords are meant to produce a variety of notes. It is the joint effect of these distinctive notes, their harmonious blending by the clever hand of the musician that produces the melodious music which soothes our ears and pleases our soul. The Master of Architect has not made two men exactly alike in appearance or nature, nor two birds or beasts, nor flowers and leaves, nor minerals and metals. One differs from another in various aspects. Indeed it is the variety that makes Nature so grand and beautiful.

Variety plays an important part in adding the necessary flavor and charm in one’s life in an altogether different field. The varied roles filled by him- the roles of father and mother, husband and wife, son and daughter, friend and foe, brother and sister, impart to him ample freshness, ecstasy, and sweetness. Can we conceive of a better and more agreeable spice of life than the spice of love and affection, which we receive and reciprocate during our earthly existence?
