उज्जयिन्यां महाकालमोङ्कारममलेश्वरम्॥

The third Jyotirlinga in the Dwadash Jyotirlinga Strotam is the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in the ancient city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Lord Shiva is seated here in his Swayambhu from which means a self-manifested form of a shivling deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other images and lingams that are ritually established and invested with mantra-shakti. The mahakaleshwar shivling is ‘dakshinmurti’ which means facing south. It is also one of the names of Lord Shiva.
