Do you ever scroll through your social media feed and at some point stop to think what you're doing and why you are wasting your time?

You're not the only one thinking this thought, in fact, one in ten people have limited their time on social media because they have realized what effect it has on their lives and how it is limiting them from doing things they wish they had time for.

Nowadays with social media stars arising on platforms like Instagram, YouTube and where not, everyone wants a piece of fame, even if it means costing users their time and mental peace. Researchers claim though technological advancement has benefitted us, social media has made us more insecure, self-conscious and has also led to increased cases of anxiety and depression.

In this day and age, young children are exposed to platforms they shouldn't be on. Not only are they getting hooked but are also changing their lifestyle. Kids who are supposed to be at home studying or playing outside spend an average of 10 hours on social platforms. But what is being done about it? Nothing really! Parents' complain but they're not willing to take a step, they are more concerned about pleasing their child than teaching them right from wrong.

Then we have those in their early twenties, they can't contain themselves and end up posting each and every bit of their life on social media and until and unless they get the validation they seek, they are not satisfied.

People have gone crazy taking selfies in dangerous locations just to appear "cool" online but in most cases the aftermath was death. To what extent are we willing to go just to be "famous" online? Why have we let social media consume us in ways more dangerous than beneficial? And why are we doing nothing about it?
