Its the game which most developers aspire to make, the perfect interaction between the background and the 2D movement area. There are several physics and momentum based puzzles to solve. Although it appears more of a traditional platformer but its more of an ambitious adventure which plays with a beautiful background landscape. Every single level of this six-hour game is fantastic. Each stage is designed to be discovered from the perspective of Yarny, our main protagonist. The AI makes the camera focus on the puzzle areas so as the player can give attention to the maximum details.
Player's perspective
The game appears to be seen through a magnifying glass. Those little leaves and cans are pretty big now. Yarny has no facial expression other than two eyes. Yarny is more than just a piece of wool; he will take you to a journey which will make you discover your lost innocence and appreciate the natural world around you. Most of the puzzles in this game are environmentally based. The ones with water involved are the best to experience. Like many other whip heroes, Yarny can also swing by tying his wool to a nail or lever. Our protagonist is a passive guy and must creatively find a way around when he counters an unpredictable danger.
Gameplay
Most of the solutions to the puzzles require a yarny solution and sometimes you may find yourself in situations with no yarns left. Then you need to retrace the steps while collecting all the wool. Even the bad parts of the game appear lovely. In the darker sections of the game, Yarny has to recover fast dangers like the pistons and cogs. By levelling up the game in industrial zones, Unravel makes you see the bigger picture of the harms coming with the industrial era.
Initially Unravel appears to be a traditional platformer at first, but later on, it becomes more and more interesting as you put in more emotional investment. Yarny dispels the haziness of memory; with him present, everything is suddenly clear and connected. Occasionally, during a stage, you'll see a faded apparition of yarny's family in the past.
Unravel takes the player on a surprisingly thoughtful and reflective journey. As a puzzler, you will be finding this game quite worthy of your bucks.
