Why bother releasing a Pro version?
It's been nearly three years since we got the first glimpse of the PlayStation 4. It still stands strong in terms of the performance and exclusives it provides on its price. But, as time goes PS 4 is not the best console you can buy anymore. It has a predecessor now — the PlayStation 4 Pro. The Xbox One X has gives some serious competition to the 4 Pro in terms of technical performance, but I also contains some raw horsepower under the hood. PlayStation fans will recall the moments before the Pro version landed with the slim edition. This was different from Sony's history on Consoles. Although, Sony has not tried to Boycott the previous iteration consoles as soon as the Pro was launched. All the titles announced for the Pro will work perfectly well on the PS 4 and PS 4 Slim.
Now the question remains whether the console is worth the money or is it worth upgrading from PS 4. It can be compared to the launch of a new smartphone. It is higher priced, has better specs comes with better software and is more future proof. But, if you own the previous iteration of the device, will you buy it. The answer depends on your budget conditions and your will to buy. If you don't have a PS 4, then the Pro will give 4K gaming experience and extra power over the slim version. This means the games will run smoother over the previous Slim.
The differences
On the one hand, you don't have significant differences. Both the consoles will allow you to play the same games and at a good enough quality. The games will not come with the ability to use the 4 Pro software; the game developers will have to release a patch to utilise the 4 Pro's hardware and its higher performance to deliver crisp images.
Moreover, the 4 Pro will produce crisper images when compared with the PS 4 or PS 4 Slim. It also manages to play the game at a higher frame rate than the original PS.
There are not a ton of games available in native 4K on the 4 Pro. There are titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Marvel's Spiderman and No Man's Sky.
To end it, the PS 4 Pro is slightly bigger aesthetically with additional 3.1 USB port and upgraded WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities. The Design is almost a complete copy of the original PS 4, but with an extra ridge which signifies, that its a better version.
